Career
In the early stages of his career, Prabhakar took on minor negative roles in Kannada movies but swiftly ascended to become a prominent antagonist in both Kannada and Telugu cinema during the late 1970s and 1980s. Around 1983-84, he transitioned to playing leading roles as an action hero in Kannada films, maintaining this status until 1993-94.
Prabhakar formed successful on-screen partnerships with leading Kannada heroines of his era, such as Jayamala, Aarathi, Bharathi, Lakshmi, and Jayanthi. Notably, he directed approximately 9-10 Kannada films, where he played the hero. With a career spanning around 400 movies, he commenced his journey in the industry at the age of 14 in the 1970s. In the later part of his career, he also delved into directing, helming films like “Bombay Dada” and “King,” where he showcased his acting prowess.
His natural and impactful performances, particularly as a villain in Chiranjeevi’s films, earned him the moniker “Kannada Prabhakar.”
Death
Tragically, Tiger Prabhakar breathed his last at Mallya Hospital in Bangalore on the evening of March 25, 2001, at 9:45 p.m.
