Renowned filmmaker Priyadarshan has crafted several memorable movies alongside Akshay Kumar. Following the successes of “Hera Pheri” and “Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” this dynamic duo is set to reunite after a hiatus of 14 years. While expectations naturally lean towards another comedy venture, there’s a twist brewing in the plot. Read on for all the intriguing details!

In recent times, Priyadarshan has been predominantly engaged in projects within the South Indian film industry. After an eight-year hiatus from Hindi cinema following “Rangrezz” (2013), he made a comeback with “Hungama 2” in 2021. However, this romantic comedy, featuring Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Meezaan Jafri, and Pranitha Subhash, failed to captivate audiences due to its lackluster script, direction, and performances.
Now, Priyadarshan is gearing up for another stint in Bollywood, this time with his trusted collaborator, Akshay Kumar. Confirming the news to Hindustan Times, he revealed, “Now that I am done with my documentary series on the history of the Ram Mandir, my next significant project is the one with Akshay, produced by Ekta Kapoor. It is a horror fantasy infused with humor.”
Addressing any parallels with “Bhool Bhulaiyaa,” Priyadarshan clarified that this upcoming project delves into the realm of fantasy thriller, exploring the backdrop of black magic, one of India’s oldest superstitions. The acclaimed director also expressed his enthusiasm for reuniting with Akshay Kumar, stating, “Collaborating with Akshay has always been a pleasure. From our initial endeavor to this upcoming one, our synergy has consistently borne fruit. His adeptness in portraying emotions is commendable. I have been awaiting a compelling narrative to collaborate with him again, and I believe this project fits the bill perfectly.”

During the discourse, Priyadarshan dismissed the notion of sequels, citing the example of “Hera Pheri.” He believes that original creations stand out and that subsequent installments often exploit the success of the original without adding substantial value.
On the professional front, Akshay Kumar has encountered a string of setbacks at the box office, with disappointments such as “Bachchan Pandey,” “Ram Setu,” “Raksha Bandhan,” and “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.” It remains to be seen whether Priyadarshan’s upcoming venture will steer him towards calmer waters amidst these turbulent times.
