Manisha Koirala recently shared a candid revelation about a significant regret she harbors in her illustrious acting career. The actress, who is poised for a comeback with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi: The Diamond Market, opened up about a missed opportunity that continues to weigh on her mind. She confessed to declining a role in Yash Chopra’s iconic film Dil To Pagal Hai opposite the legendary Madhuri Dixit due to overwhelming fear.

Despite her deep admiration for Yash Chopra’s cinematic prowess and the allure of starring in one of his films, Manisha found herself gripped by self-doubt when confronted with the prospect of sharing the screen with the immensely talented Madhuri Dixit. In a moment of hesitation, she made the difficult decision to decline the offer, a choice she now looks back on with regret. The role she turned down ultimately landed in the capable hands of Karisma Kapoor, marking a missed opportunity in Manisha’s career trajectory.
Reflecting on her past decision, Manisha acknowledged the role her insecurities played in shaping her choices. However, she resolved not to allow fear to dictate her future decisions. This determination led her to accept the opportunity to star in Lajja (2001), a film that explored various women-centric issues and featured both Madhuri Dixit and Rekha alongside her. In hindsight, Manisha recognized the missed potential of the earlier project and expressed gratitude for the valuable experience gained from working on Lajja.
Despite her initial apprehensions, Manisha found solace in the supportive environment fostered by her co-stars, particularly Madhuri Dixit, whom she lauded for her professionalism and talent. The experience of collaborating with seasoned actors like Madhuri Dixit and Rekha enriched Manisha both personally and professionally, reaffirming her belief in the transformative power of overcoming insecurities.

Looking ahead, Manisha eagerly anticipates her reunion with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Heeramandi, marking their second collaboration since their acclaimed partnership in Khamoshi: The Musical (1996), where they were joined by Salman Khan. This forthcoming project represents not only a professional opportunity for Manisha but also a testament to her growth and resilience in the face of past regrets.
