Janhvi Kapoor is currently one of Bollywood’s leading actresses. She is eagerly anticipating the release of her next film, Mr & Mrs Mahi, where she stars opposite Rajkummar Rao. This film is produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions among other major labels.
Speaking to News 18, Janhvi reflected on her initial meetings with Karan Johar and revealed that she was in discussions for a different Dharma film before committing to Dhadak.
Janhvi Kapoor on Her Early Interactions with Karan Johar
Recounting her first significant interaction with Karan Johar, which occurred before she began filming Dhadak, Janhvi mentioned that they would occasionally meet at social events. However, their first substantial conversation took place at his office. She couldn’t recall if she had already signed Dhadak at that time but mentioned discussions about her potentially starring in another Dharma film.
The Mili star added that she frequently visited Karan’s office, where he would assign her scenes to perform. During that period, Karan was working on Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Janhvi revealed that Karan’s then-assistant director, Sharan Sharma, would print scenes from films like Jab We Met and Kapoor & Sons for her to practice. “As homework, I had to learn these scenes and come back to audition for Karan, although he never called it an audition. I think he was just assessing my abilities,” she said.
Describing Karan Johar, Janhvi Kapoor mentioned that she doesn’t find him intimidating but acknowledged his ‘strong and vibrant’ personality. She also appreciated his tendency to stand up for what is right.
Janhvi Kapoor’s Upcoming Projects
Janhvi Kapoor is preparing for the release of Mr & Mrs Mahi, where she plays the role of a cricketer. Her co-star in the film is Rajkummar Rao. Additionally, she will soon appear in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari alongside Varun Dhawan, a project for which she has already started shooting.
