Home is a feel-good family Malayalam movie and tells the tale of how most of the modern families live. The film is written by Rojin Thomas. The main cast consists of Indrans, Sreenath Bhasi, Naslen and Manju Pillai. Oliver Twist (Indrans), the main character in the movie, is always trying to be near to his filmmaker son Antony (Sreenath Bhasi) who has nomophobia. Antony insults his father on a regular basis for being naive when it comes to technology and is ignorant of his father’s sentiments and feelings. All of this results in a difficult scenario in Antony’s work that causes a conflict with his father. The story revolves around how Antony comes to see the value of his father and family.

It especially highlights how smartphones and technology have replaced the boomers, leaving little to none of time for their parents and relatives. The movie emphasizes the need of living your life with people around you free from technology. It also emphasizes how drastically our life has been subtly changed by mobile phones.

The movie has a quite current theme and message. For the newer generation, it opens eyes on how naive they have been toward their technologically uninformed parents. The movie powerfully captures the feelings of parents, for which the cast and performance count.

The cast of the movie consists in Indrans, Sreenath Bhasi, Naslen and Manju Pillai. With quite amazing performance, Indrans becomes the backbone of this movie. He firmly believes that the emotional basis the movie is based on is his credit. Another great performance in the movie is Sreenath Bhasi. He has balanced the contradictory emotional condition every young person today experiences.

Up to now, Naslen has provided his best performance. For the part of Kuttiyamma, Oliver’s wife, Manju Pillai was really believable and appropriate. The movie keeps performance-wise strong and merits awards.

Though the movie was entertaining overall, the frequency of the writing varied. Though at the same time the pace and the predictable writing bring it down the mountain, it has some clever, dramatic, and beautiful moments.

Indran’s superb performance makes the movie emotionally gripping despite its little defects. A little more improvement in direction and storyline would have produced a really wonderful feel-good drama.
