Varun Dhawan once shared a funny childhood memory where he mistakenly thought Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol were married in real life. He was quite surprised when he saw Gauri Khan at Shah Rukh’s home, Mannat.
In 2015, during the promotion of Dilwale on Comedy Nights With Kapil, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan, and Kriti Sanon appeared on the show. Kapil Sharma, the host, recalled watching Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge in a theater, where his mother believed that SRK and Kajol were actually married.
Varun then shared his own childhood belief, saying, “When I was a kid, I also thought you two were married until I met Gauri ma’am.”
He also recounted a childhood experience where he and his friends were collecting donations for charity. They decided to visit Shah Rukh’s house, Mannat, thinking it would be a good place to get a donation. However, Varun was surprised when Gauri Khan answered the door. “At that moment, I felt something was wrong,” he said.
Shah Rukh, amused by Varun’s story, playfully imagined what Varun might have been thinking, saying, “Who are you, and what are you doing in Kajol’s house?” This made everyone on the show laugh. Later, Varun spoke to his mother about the incident, and she explained that Gauri is actually Shah Rukh’s wife.
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol have starred in several iconic films, such as Baazigar, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and My Name Is Khan.
On another note, Varun Dhawan is set to make his web series debut with Citadel: Honey Bunny, directed by Raj & DK and co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu, releasing on November 7. He will also appear in Baby John, directed by Kalees and produced by Atlee, alongside Keerthy Suresh and Wamiqa Gabbi.
