  • Manika began playing table tennis when she was just five years old. Even as a child, her siblings herself used to prepare her for tournaments.
  • After growing up, she used to visit Sandeep Gupta’s coaching academy which is situated in Hans Raj Model School, New Delhi.
  • Despite the mental fragility of her father, he was still very supportive about her career, and used to watch her matches on the television.
  • She won her first state-level title when she was eight years old in the Under-8 category.
  • She became a debutant for India, when in 2008 she was merely thirteen years old.
  • When Saina reached sixteen years of age, she applied for a scholarship to Peter Karlsson Academy in Sweden.
