• In the year 2018, Manika Batra emerged as India’s top-ranked female table tennis player.
  She became the first Indian female paddler to win a medal at the ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup by defeating World No. 6 Hina Hayata 4-2, securing a bronze medal on 19 November 2022.
  Became the first Indian table tennis player to reach the pre-quarterfinals at the Olympics in 2024, doing so at the Paris Games.

Lesser Known Facts about Manika Batra

• Manika began playing table tennis when she was just five years old. Even as a child, her siblings herself used to prepare her for tournaments.
• After growing up, she used to visit Sandeep Gupta’s coaching academy which is situated in Hans Raj Model School, New Delhi.
• Despite the mental fragility of her father, he was still very supportive about her career, and used to watch her matches on the television.
• She won her first state-level title when she was eight years old in the Under-8 category.
• She became a debutant for India, when in 2008 she was merely thirteen years old.
• When Saina reached sixteen years of age, she applied for a scholarship to Peter Karlsson Academy in Sweden.
• She dropped from college to focus on table tennis.
