Famous fashion designer Manish Malhotra recently took to social media to praise the ageless glamour and persona of a veteran actress Rekha. As part of the respectful admiration, the well-known actor Dharmendra posted an emotional note dedicated to Rekha on his Instagram ‘handle’. Sharing an old monochrome photo of the two of them, he captioned, “Rekha is a friend and will remain the laadli of the family.” The fond memory has a smiley Rekha, who is affectionately caressing Dharmendra’s face.
The legendary Sholay actor also shared a video of Rekha presenting the Best Actor award to his son, Sunny Deol, further celebrating their long-standing connection.
Rekha recently made waves with her appearance at Manish Malhotra’s glamorous Diwali bash in Mumbai. Photos of her sharing a warm moment with Shabana Azmi, including a kiss on the cheek, went viral and became the talk of the town.
Manish Malhotra can trace his relationship with Rekha as far back as 1996, the year they met for the first time at the Filmfare Awards, when she was the one who handed him the Best Costume award for Rangeela. Their first professional project was Ram Gopal Varma’s Bhoot but in the years that followed, the scope of Manish’s work with Rekha extended to designing several looks for her during various public events.
Earlier this year, on the her birthday, Manish wrote a post complaining about Rekha “an original style maker.” Posting a few pictures of himself with the evergreen actress, he wrote, “Absolutely the one and only REKHAJI… Colossal Superstar, Gorgeous, and a Style Maker like no other at least in her films. Birthday wishes, lots of love, and respect for someone who is not only supremely talented but also incredibly warm and loving.”
He further added, “Her fabulous expressions, her unforgettable performances, and her mesmerizing dances—the list of her achievements is endless. I’m honoured to have worked with her and to know her personally. My admiration and love for her will always remain.”
