International Career Highlights
Aakash Chopra made his Test debut against New Zealand in Ahmedabad in October 2003. During India’s search for a reliable opening partner for Virender Sehwag, Chopra’s technical skill and composure made him a good addition.
Notable performances:
In the second Test at Mohali during the 2003-2004 season, he scored two impressive half-centuries against New Zealand. Formed century partnerships with Sehwag during India’s historic 2003-04 Australia tour, adding to the team’s big totals.
He wasn’t allowed to play One Day Internationals due to his bad batting rate. Following his final Test in 2004, he was succeeded in the opening lineup by Gautam Gambhir and Wasim Jaffer.
Domestic Cricket Career
Chopra had an excellent domestic career for side Delhi, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh.
Successes:
Won three Ranji Trophy titles-one with Delhi and two with Rajasthan.
Played a pivotal role in Rajasthan’s historic triumph as the first Plate Division team to clinch the Ranji Trophy during the 2010-2011 season.
He represented Delhi in the Nissar Trophy in September 2008, but despite his great efforts, Delhi lost. Chopra retired from all formats of cricket in 2015, leaving behind a legacy of over 8,000 First-Class runs.
Indian Premier League (IPL)
He represented the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
KKR: He was part of the Kolkata Knight Riders squad in the 2008 and 2009 IPL seasons.
Rajasthan Royals: Scored 53 runs over six innings in IPL 2011 before leaving the tournament.
