Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is the biggest socio-cultural organization in India. Its headquarters is situated at Nagpur, Maharashtra, and is commonly referred as “Hedgewar Bhawan.” The historical office there acts as the nerve centre coordinating actions all over India and in other countries.
Location and History
The RSS head office is situated at Reshimbagh, Nagpur. In fact, that city was particularly chosen as its founder, the Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, happens to be an offspring of this city. Indeed, it is in Nagpur that Dr. Hedgewar established the organisation in 1925. Nagpur’s central location in India also made it a strategic choice for the organization’s headquarters.
In the initial days, RSS worked from very ordinary infrastructures; however, the years passed on, and it turned out to be Hedgewar Bhawan as a hallmark of discipline, simplicity, and organizational strength. The premise bears the hallmarks of RSS’s tenets: austerity and commitment towards service.

The head office contains administrative buildings, meeting halls, and residential quarters for full-time workers or “pracharaks.” The most important component of the headquarters is the room, in which Dr. Hedgewar’s personal possessions and historical records of the organisation are preserved.
This office supervises the ordinary working of the RSS, which includes the training camps, community service programs, and nationwide events. Miraculously, it is also the place of vital decision-making meetings of top-level RSS leadership, such as the “Sarsanghchalak” (chief) and other senior leaders.

Regular events are taken place here along with the very annual Vijayadashami celebration marking the foundation day of the organizations.
