What is Run Rate
The NRR is the tie-breaker when the teams are points. Remember that NRR signifies the difference between the rate of runs scored by the teams and the rate of runs conceded by the teams. Applying that to the run rates for both innings will give administrators the NRR for that match in question; positive it is a win; negative it is a loss the other way around. The other way to break a tie would be with the NRR using methods such as the DLS method, which is interestingly used to finalize a winner. All in all, these come into use in deriving a conclusion to announce the winner.

How Net Run Rate is calculated
The net run rate of a team in a certain match is equal to the difference between the average number of runs scored by that team during overs played in that match and the average runs given by that team per over in that tie. Hence, it is equivalent to running the team against the opposition in an overall match.

The Net Run Rate formula is used to calculate the NRR of a team in the match.
Net Run Rate (NRR) = Runs scored by the team-match/Number of overs faced by the Team-Match-Runs Scored in the Match by the Oppositions/Number of overs faced by the opposition-in-Match.

What Are the Exceptions for Calculating the Net Run Rate?

In this case, the NRR can’t be calculated if a match is abandoned due to anything. However if the match ends up as a tie, and super overs are held, then also it cannot be calculated for that match.

What Are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Calculating the Net Run Rate ?

Advantages of calculating the net run rate

1. NRR makes it possible for ranking teams much fairer by not solely relying on head-to-head record comparison to separate teams with equal points.

2. Teams score quickly and restrict the opponent efficiently, in a fast-paced game as they’ve now become motivated to go for the limit.

Disadvantages of calculating net run rate

1.The Complex Calculation formula does not ring true for even casual fans, resulting being confusion.

2. A heavy loss could quite possibly plummet an NRR so drastically that the recovery is impossible in later matches.
