Sanju Viswanath Samson, born on 11 November 1994 in Pulluvila, Vizhinjam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, is an Indian cricketer who is a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper. He stands at a height of 5 feet 7 inches and has been of immense use in domestic as well as international cricket.
Early Life and Home Career
Samson’s cricketing days started early in Delhi, where his father, Samson Viswanath, was a police constable and a former footballer who played for Delhi in the Santhosh Trophy. Sanju’s early years of training were under coach Yashpal in the academy at DL DAV Model School, Shalimar Bagh. Unable to join the Delhi U-13 team, his family moved to Kerala, and he was able to continue his cricket career. He debuted for Kerala in first-class cricket in 2011 and soon became the sensation of the town for all his batting skills.
Indian Premier League (IPL) Career
Sanju’s IPL career began in 2013 with Rajasthan Royals, to whom he was given the Emerging Player of the Year award. He later played for Delhi Daredevils in 2016 and 2017 and then returned to the Royals in 2018 and was appointed captain in 2021. Sanju Samson’s T20 International career with India started when he played against Zimbabwe on July 19, 2015.
