Early life and background

On 28th June 1992, Mysore, Karnataka, India, Nikhil was brought up in a highly creative environment. His mother, Sulekha, is an actress and a writer, while Shashi, his father, is a widely known journalist. Such artistic upbringing influenced and positively shaped Nikhil’s character while he showed interest in performing arts at a tender age. He had earlier schooled at Baden Powell Public School and earned a diploma in architecture from Acharya Institute of Technology in Bengaluru.

Although he had taken up an academic course in a technical field, his affection towards arts was apparent. He actively took part in school plays and dance competitions, which helped in the early pagoda for acting future.

Career Start and Development

Nikhil began his journey in the industry not in front of the camera, but as a Business Development Executive, after which he entered the world of acting. His first appearance was in the 2016 Kannada film Ooty, but the break came in 2018 when he took part in the Kannada television series Maneye Mantralaya.

A contestant in Star Maa’s Gorintaku in 2019, he captured Telugu television screens in the role of Parthu. So well did he perform that in 2020 he was awarded the coveted Bullithera Award for Best Actor. He starred in Ammaku Teliyani Koilamma and also took a part in reality shows like Kiraak Boys Khiladi Girls, which his team won.

Bigg Boss Telugu Season 8 win

Nikhil became a household name in 2024 when he was a participant in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 8, hosted by Nagarjuna. The show began on September 1, and he soon turned out to be the favorite of fans with his calm demeanor, integrity, and interpersonal skills. On December 15, 2024, Nikhil was announced the winner and walked away with a cash prize of ₹55 lakh and a Maruti Suzuki Dzire car. Actor Ram Charan announced the win, further consolidating his public stature.

Nikhil stands at 5’10” (178 cm) and is famous for his charming personality and grounded lifestyle. He also is a non-vegetarian who has a tattoo with the word ‘Sands’ on his right forearm. He is also an animal lover and has a pet dog.
