Early Life and Background
A native of Patiala, Punjab, India, born in 1975, Maheep Singh is a noted figure of Indian stand-up comedy. With Delhi as his household, Maheep started his journey in comedy in 2013 and emerged as one of the earliest performers to put the stand-up comedy scene in the capital on the map.

Career and Rise in Comedy

He considered his entry into comedy not so much as a professional livelihood but rather as a personal road to redemption: something he needed to do for himself as a healthy outlet while going through depression. What started off as a therapeutic exercise became a very strong platform for him where he would share authentic real-life stories, infused with scathing observational humor. Unique are his sartorial points-of-view and sharp observational style of storytelling, earning him the title “The Gujarati Sardar.”
He is also the founder of the New Delhi Comedy Club, which was set up in December 2013 and which now acts as a major bastion for new talent in the city. He is also involved in curating events such as the Jaspal Bhatti Humor Festival and the Khushwant Singh Humor Festival, all while nurturing his love for uncovering cultural and comedic outlets.

Other Professional Endeavors
Before dedicating himself fully to comedy, Maheep worked as a freelance translator for nearly two decades and was a copyeditor at Aptara from 1999 to 2003. He is also a playwright and lyricist, with his works presented at numerous international art festivals. These diversified talents allow him to add brilliance and insight to his comedy.
Personal Life and comedian Family

While Maheep does keep mentioning his family from time to time in his acts, he has mostly stayed wary of giving out any concrete details about himself. He is married and has a daughter, though names and further information are kept away from the public domain. His parents, especially his mother, have played a supportive role throughout his journey.
Recognition and Net Worth
Maheep’s contributions to Indian comedy were recognized when Zakir Khan awarded him ‘India’s Best Stand-up Comedian’ at the Indian Comedy Festival. His estimated net worth is around ₹8 crores (approx. $1 million), accumulated through live performances, club ownership, and other creative ventures.
Media Appearances
While primarily focused on live comedy, Maheep has also appeared in projects like “Jaspal” (2024), “Baked” (2015), and “India’s Got Latent” (2024 YouTube show), further showcasing his range as an entertainer.
