Family and Early Life
Anirudh, born to classical dancer Lakshmi and actor Ravi Raghavendra in Chennai, has very strong ties to a rich cultural heritage in cinema and dance. He is the nephew of actress Latha Rajinikanth and also the grandnephew of director Rajinikanth and K. Subramanyam and therefore comes from a rich creative heritage. He has an elder sister, Vaishnavi.

Education and Music Training
He completed school at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan and went on to graduate from Loyola College, Chennai, with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2011. He trained in classical piano at Trinity College London and completed studies in sound engineering at Soundtech Media Audio Engineering Institute.

Professional Achievements

Anirudh’s biggest success was in 2011 with the release of the blockbusting “Why This Kolaveri Di” from the movie 3— a track that was a cultural phenomenon. He has since then contributed music to a series of major Tamil and Telugu films like Ethir Neechal, Velaiilla Pattadhari, Maari, Velaikkaran, Jailer, Jawan, and Leo, to mention just dozens and dozens more. As of 2025, he has over a dozen movies scheduled in the pipeline, including Vidaamuyarchi, Indian 2, and the Telugu/Tamil movies Kingdom, Coolie, and Madharasi.

Personal Life

Anirudh is unmarried and a very private person. Although there have been reports of dating actresses and industry people sometimes, there have been no confirmations.
