Early Life and Education
Manushi Chhillar was born on the 14th day of May, 1997 in Rohtak, Haryana, of a family that is into medicine for generations. Her father is a scientist, and her mother is a doctor, which gave her the idea of medicine to become a part of her life. She attended an elite school in New Delhi, where she did very well and broke all records by placing first in English, and also qualified for medical entry exams on her first shot. Then on to the Government Medical College in Haryana, in a 4-year program, she excelled at academics and public health care services.
Stepping into the World of Pageantry
She first came into the public eye when she was crowned Femina Miss India Haryana in 2017. Her grace under pressure, confidence and intelligence made her stand out, which in turn saw her take to the national stage. With her powerful stage presence and skill in speech, she won the Femina Miss India World 2017 title. That win marked the start of her career, which would take her to the global stage.
Winning Miss World 2017
In November 2017, Manushi represented India at the Miss World pageant. Against a field of over 100 countries, she did well in many categories, including talent, fitness and multimedia. It was her in-depth and emotional answers in the Q A segment as well as her work for social issues that earned her the title. She is the sixth Indian to win this title, which came back to Indian after a gap of 17 years.
Championing Menstrual Health with ‘Project Shakti’
Manushi’s great achievement was through what she called “Project Shakti”, which put the issue of menstrual health on the map in rural India. She went to villages, ran workshops, and spoke to large groups of women on issues of safe menstruation. What she did brought out into the open a very private issue which was, till then, taboo. Her work paid off, which got her pageant success as well as recognition from national and international bodies after the pageant.
Life as Miss World
During my reign, Manushi travelled the world over, we were a part of great humanitarian efforts and put India on the map. I spoke at summits, ran into charity work, which also included health and education campaigns. My humility, which was paired with intellect and natural charm, captured many fans in each country, to the point that we became a global role model.
Entering the Film Industry and Entrepreneurship
After which Manushi had a successful run, she branched out into the film industry. She made her foray into Bollywood as a historical character. Also, into business did she venture. Along with her sister’s brand, she founded health, environment, and inclusive fashion and wellness companies.
A Role Model for Youth
Manushi Chhillar’s story is a beautiful mix of intelligence, grace, and care. From a medical student to Miss World, and into acting and business, she has constantly been a source of our inspiration as she uses her stage to bring about change. That which we see in her is that with will power, organised effort, and a driven philosophy on life, you can do it in many fields.
