Kannada cinema will keep its rich literary path going until 2025 with a combination of all genres of films: thriller, suspense, emotional drama, village comedies, and mythological epics. A glimpse of ten significant releases that have hit our screens recently is given below.
Agnyathavasi (Released on 11 April 2025)

Directed by P. Sheshadri, the rural murder thriller is based in the Malenadu hills and features Rangayana Raghu as a persistent inspector digging up old truths. The mood of the film, acting, and technical skill were enjoyed, although the ending of the film was panned.
Adhipatra (Released on 7 February 2025)
Combining suspense with sea culture, the thriller has Roopesh Shetty playing a policeman probing supernatural killings. The cultural richness and suspenseful atmosphere for the visual narration of the film were appreciated by critics.
Vishnu Priya (Release Date: 21 February 2025)

Set in the 1990s with a sophisticated nostalgic charm, this romantic drama film is based on real events and stars Priya Prakash Varrier in her Kannada film debut.
Bhuvanam Gaganam (Valentine’s Day, Feb 2025)
A romantic drama of human relationships in depth, with Pramod, Pruthvi Ambaar, Rachel David, and the rest.
Nan Poli (Release Date: May 2, 2025)
A May release as per Filmibeat, adding to the first-half stories of the year.
Suthradaari (9 May 2025)

A May appearance on Chandan Shetty’s show with Apurva.
Kuladalli Keelyavudo (23 May 2025)
Releasing later in May, this film has actors Manu Madenur and Sonal Monteiro.
Kannappa (27 June 2025)
A gripping historical drama with Manchu Vishnu and Prabhas, with mythological touches merged with contemporary visual flair.
Ekka (18 July 2025)

Directed by Rohit Padaki and featuring Yuva Rajkumar, the action-drama registered the biggest opening for a Kannada film this year with the support of a good performance despite a poor screenplay.
