Early Life and Education
Lakshmi Niwas Mittal was born on 15 June 1950 in Sadulpur, which is a small town in Rajasthan, India. He is from a Marwari Hindu business family. His father, Mohanlal Mittal, was in the steel business in India. The family later shifted to Kolkata (then Calcutta), where Lakshmi did his school at Shri Daulatram Nopany Vidyalaya. Also, it was at a young age that he took to business and global trade, which in due time shaped his career in the steel industry.
Career Journey
Lakshmi Mittal started out in his family’s steel business. But due to India’s industrial policies, which were very much against it at that time in the 1970s, he decided to strike out on his own.
