The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the results of the 2021 Civil Services Exam, revealing that Divya Tanwar, a 23-year-old from Haryana, secured the 438th rank in her first attempt at the UPSC CSE. Opting for Hindi literature as her elective subject, Divya hails from Nimbi, Mahendragarh, and has overcome challenges to achieve success.
Divya’s journey is marked by personal hardships, with her father’s passing in 2011 and her mother taking up cooking at a school to support the family. Despite these challenges and belonging to a modest background in a small village, Divya’s remarkable achievement in cracking the UPSC exam has garnered widespread recognition.
Coming from a simple family in Nimbi, Divya attended Navodaya after completing her primary education at Manu School in her village. In 2023, at the age of 24, she stands as a source of pride for her district, having secured AIR 438 in the UPSC exam. Her academic background includes schooling at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at Government Women’s College.
Divya’s dedication to her UPSC preparation is evident in her study routine, initially spanning 7 to 8 hours, which increased to 11 to 12 hours as the prelims and mains approached. Notably, she achieved this feat without taking any formal UPSC coaching, relying solely on self-study.
