Dunki Box Office Collection: Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, Shah Rukh Khan‘s latest film is gearing up for a showdown at the ticket counters, going head-to-head with Prabhas’ Salaar.

Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood luminary, is poised for the unveiling of his third cinematic venture this year, following the triumphs of Pathaan and Jawan. Named Dunki, this collaboration with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is scheduled to premiere on December 21. Commencing its advance ticket sales on Saturday, the SRK-starrer amassed an impressive Rs 1.36 crore within the first day.
As reported by industry tracker Sacnilk, the initial day of advance booking witnessed the sale of nearly 38,000 tickets for 2836 Hindi shows. However, Dunki is set to encounter tough competition at the box office from Prabhas and Prashanth Neel’s pan-Indian action-packed movie, Salaar, slated for release on December 22. Salaar’s advance ticket sales, initiated on December 15, have also recorded a substantial figure of Rs 1.52 crore.
Film trade analyst Sumit Kadel shared insights on X, stating that the following three days will provide a clearer understanding of Dunki’s box office performance. He expressed, “Dunki’s initial pre-sale starts on a remarkable note. The film has sold 10K+ tickets at national chain multiplexes. Non-national chains are showing good movement too. If the momentum continues, Dunki will challenge top films of 2023 in terms of final advance booking. The next 3 days will give a clear picture.”
Shah Rukh Khan urged his fans to secure their Dunki tickets on Saturday, taking to his X handle and stating, “Isse pehle ki Hardy cinemas mein pahoch jaaye…Aur saare shows houseful ho jaaye… Aap apni tickets book karlo! Kyun ki jab Hardy aur uske yaar ayenge, sabke dil Lutt Putt jayenge.”

In comparison to Jawan and Pathaan, Dunki has exhibited a slower start in terms of advance ticket sales. Jawan achieved an impressive 2,00,454 tickets, accumulating Rs 6.84 crore within less than 24 hours after ticket sales commenced. Similarly, Pathaan garnered nearly 1.17 lakh tickets on the first day of advance booking across the three national cinema chains, despite its limited venue availability.
Dunki, featuring Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, Anil Grover, and Boman Irani in pivotal roles, received the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) approval a week before its release. The film underwent review on December 15 and secured a U/A certificate, boasting a runtime of 2 hours and 41 minutes.
