Rajkumar Hirani’s directorial venture, Dunki, received a mixed response from both critics and audiences. Despite a promising start at the box office on its opening day, the film experienced a substantial decline in collections on the second day, coinciding with the release of Prabhas starrer Salaar in theaters. After Shah Rukh Khan’s consecutive successes with Pathaan and Jawan earlier in the year, Dunki appears to be facing challenges.

The overall occupancy for Dunki on Friday was reported to be around 25 per cent. The impact of Salaar, directed by Prashanth Neel, seems to have significantly influenced the box office performance of SRK’s film. Preliminary estimates suggest that Dunki is expected to garner over 14 crore on its second day, bringing its two-day collections to over Rs 44 crore.

On the opening day, the movie, featuring Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal, and others, generated Rs 30 crore nett in domestic box office revenue. Notably, Dunki’s day one earnings fall short in comparison to Pathaan and Jawan, which amassed Rs 55 crore and Rs 65.5 crore nett, respectively, on their opening days in India. Both of Shah Rukh Khan’s earlier films went on to surpass the Rs 1000 crore mark in worldwide box office collections.
