Imtiaz Ali found himself in a bit of a quandary when posed with the question of choosing between Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone during a recent interview. The acclaimed director, best known for his 2007 hit film “Jab We Met,” which has since attained cult status in the realm of Hindi cinema, seemed hesitant as he deliberated over the two talented actors.

During a conversation with Connect FM Canada, Imtiaz Ali was asked to weigh the merits of “Jab We Met” against another one of his directorial ventures, “Cocktail,” where Deepika Padukone played a pivotal role. Despite having directed both films, Imtiaz Ali unequivocally favored “Jab We Met” as the superior cinematic offering.
When pressed further to select the superior performance between Kareena Kapoor’s portrayal of Geet in “Jab We Met” and Deepika Padukone’s role in “Cocktail,” Imtiaz Ali’s loyalty remained with Kareena Kapoor. He rationalized his choice by expressing, “Very tough but let me say Kareena because I was the director.”
