In Dehli, India, on April 22, 1974, Chetan Bhagat was born into a traditional Punjabi bourgeois family. His father was a lieutenant colonel in the Indian army, while his mother was employed by the government’s agriculture department. That was where he completed most of his schooling.

To enhance his education, he enrolled at IIT and IIM, two of India’s most prestigious universities. He was highly driven to become a writer when he was younger, and he began writing his first novel while working in Hong Kong. “Five Point Someone” was a major commercial and critical hit.

He married fellow student Anusha Suryanarayanan in 1998. After graduating, he moved to Hong Kong with his family, where he worked for Goldman Sachs for eleven years as an investment banker. When he returned to India, he relocated from New Delhi to Mumbai. His job also changed as a result of the shift, and he developed a strong enthusiasm for writing.

Whether by accident or purpose, every title in his works contained a number. He now has a happy life with his wife and two sons, Shyam and Ishaan.

Author Chetan Bhagat, who had previously attended IIT, focuses on three mechanical engineering students with five-point GP in his first book, Five Point Someone. It discusses the unfair grading procedures utilised in higher education, which divide students into groups based on how well they can memorise information.

The majority of the book is critical of the dull and ineffective assessment practices and instructional techniques employed by prestigious colleges across the world. Chetan Bhagat notes that these kinds of institutions produce a pool of engineers based on their ability to remember things, as opposed to pushing students to apply their ingenuity.

His second book, One Night At A Call Centre, was likewise a big hit. The script for the movie version of this book, titled “Hello,” was written by Chetan Bhagat. Salman Khan, a Bollywood icon, made an unexpected cameo in the merely passable movie.

When most critics gave his works bad reviews, he referred to them as amusement rather than serious writing. This illustrates how he handled the criticism directed at him with grace. After being away from India for so long, he became an NRI and is now a citizen of Singapore.
