Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, Srikanth, is a touching and motivating narrative of a youngster who opted to defy the odds, who opted to go against the breeze, and who didn’t let his impairment hinder him and his ambitions. Srikanth is also the account of perseverance, tenacity, and confidence, and it astonished me to discover that the majority of the events depicted in the movie truly occurred in reality. The picture is motivated by the actual existence of Srikanth Bolla, though the creators have taken certain imaginative liberties to essentially fabricate more compelling disputes and heighten the drama.
Srikanth was born in a tiny hamlet named Seetharampuram in Andhra Pradesh, and naturally, his kin and even his guardians, to some degree, were disheartened that he was born with a disability. There were individuals who proposed that the guardians should dispose of him, but Srikanth’s guardians declined to consider such notions. In the movie, it is depicted that Srikanth’s father went and nearly buried him alive, as he didn’t want to bear the weight of raising a child with an impairment. I perceive that act was a symbolic portrayal of how they must have felt and what their close ones suggested. They had no idea that they had given birth to a prodigy who was going to change the way the nation viewed blind and disabled individuals. It is accurate that Bolla faced difficulties during his school years. In one of his discussions, Srikanth expressed that he didn’t feel impoverished due to the scarce resources that his family possessed, as he knew that when the moment arrived, he would be able to compensate for it with his diligence. But sitting in the classroom solitary and not being a part of a friend’s circle made Srikanth comprehend that in reality, an individual who was isolated was the most destitute of all. Srikanth mentioned that the sole regret he had in his existence was that he was not able to relish his school life with his companions. He was not able to savour that fragment of childhood, as perhaps individuals didn’t treat him equally.
Based on the counsel of certain relatives, Srikanth’s father opted to relocate him to Hyderabad, where he could attend a school for children with disabilities. Leaving his hamlet was the most arduous thing Srikanth undertook. Residing in a dormitory solitary and performing all his tasks independently was a challenging endeavor. But the greatest challenge of them all was consuming brinjal every day, as we witnessed Srikanth lamenting in the movie, too. I am uncertain if Srikanth was expelled from the school the manner it was depicted in the movie, but it is accurate that he confronted the administration when he was the head boy and requested them to provide the students with superior amenities.
It is entirely accurate that Srikanth was not permitted to study science initially, and he was asked to take humanities. Srikanth was an excellent student, and he excelled in every examination that he took. Just like it was depicted in the movie, he once more encountered a challenge when the IIT coaching centers declined to accept him, and he was not even permitted to take the entrance test. That’s when Srikanth decided that he would apply to universities overseas, as the first-world nations had superior prospects for impaired individuals. It is accurate that Haldiram, the Indian corporation, granted Srikanth a full scholarship to study overseas. Srikanth knew that he would have a contented existence if he remained in the United States of America. There must have been some resentment inside him for the manner his own nation placed obstacles in his path when all he desired to do was learn. Perhaps, there would have been a moment in his existence when he would have thought of never returning to India. But I am glad he did and established Bollant Industries, an eco-friendly paper product manufacturing corporation that provides packaging solutions to enterprises. It is true that Srikanth partnered with Ravi Mantha, whose character has been exceptionally depicted by Sharad Kelkar in the movie. Swathi’s character is also based on Srikanth’s actual spouse. She has been a constant pillar in his existence, and through his posts on Instagram, we learned the kind of appreciation he has for all that Swathi has done for him. Devika’s character could be said to be a blend of all those mentors who believed in Srikanth and assisted him in various stages of his existence.
While Srikanth did meet APJ Abdul Kalam and became the youth leader of the Lead India program, I’m unsure if the former president actually invested Rs. 25 lakh, as portrayed in the movie. I discovered that Ratan Tata invested a substantial amount in Srikanth’s corporation, which permitted him to expand and establish more units. Currently, Srikanth Bolla is in Hyderabad, managing Bollant industries, tackling challenges and overcoming all the hurdles splendidly. Tushar Hiranandani’s movie is not merely a commemoration of Srikanth but a tribute to all those, like Ravi Mantha and numerous others, who believed in his capabilities, who assisted him in achieving his ambitions, and who stood beside him even when the likelihood of imagination turning into reality seemed dim.
