Acclaimed director Vetrimaaran’s latest film, Viduthalai Part 1, garnered praise from both audiences and critics during its theatrical release. Featuring Soori in the lead role, the movie was also released in Telugu under the title Vidudala Part 1. While the Tamil version became available for streaming on OTT platforms last month, the Telugu version has now joined it.
ZEE5, one of the leading OTT platforms, acquired the rights to the film and has made the Telugu version available for streaming, along with versions in Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. This intense cop drama by Vetrimaaran has been well received on OTT, with audiences appreciating the director’s vision.
Set in a place called Muthuvel, the film follows Kumaresan (played by Soori), a new recruit at a police camp in a village surrounded by dense forests near the Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border. Kumaresan learns the workings of the police force and about the Makkal Padai movement led by Perumal, also known as Vaathiyaar (portrayed by Vijay Sethupathi), who is being hunted by the authorities. The film delves into the relationship between Kumaresan and Papa, also known as Tamilarasi (played by Bhavani Sre), and whether the police are successful in capturing Perumal.
