Leonor, Princess of Asturias, is the eldest daughter of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia and the heir presumptive to the Spanish throne. A member of the House of Bourbon, she was born via caesarean section, with the Spanish Royal Family announcing her birth through SMS. She was christened with water from the Jordan River, following Spanish customs, and made her First Communion on 20 May 2015. Leonor has since grown to be an angel of the media, epitome of fashion style like her mother.
The first school Leonor attended was the Escuela Infantil Guardia Real, a day care center for the children of the Spanish Royal Guard. She started her primary education on September 15, 2008, at Santa María de los Rosales School in Aravaca, close to Madrid. In September 2021, she began her studies in the International Baccalaureate program at UWC Atlantic College in Wales. She is anticipated to complete her studies and graduate in May 2023. Leonor is fluent in both Spanish and English, but she has also studied the Chinese language of Mandarin.
A Spanish military training course, announced in March 2023 by the Spanish Minister of Defense, is expected to last three years. The young royal, Leonor, began her training on August 17 at the General Military Academy in Zaragoza ahead of eventually taking the reins as head of state in Spain. Her instruction will include naval and air force education.
The first official visit made by Leonor was to the San Javier Air Force base in May 2014. After the abdication of King Juan Carlos on June 18, 2014, the father of Leonor all of a sudden started ruling as King Felipe VI, and there and then, by default, Leonor became Princess of Asturias and the heir presumptive.
