She said how their conversation started for the first time, “I went to play cards during Diwali festivities at Chunky Panday’s house, and Bobby came and sat with me. We played cards on the same table. He was continuously losing to me, and he did not pay; he kept saying, ‘I will take you for dinner.’ I said to myself, what is it with this man? After some time, he called me. It was some weird hour in the night, and I was just sleeping soundly. So I received it and said, ‘I’ll call you tomorrow.’ Then he said, ‘You don’t know who I am?

In 1996, her father, Davendra Ahuja, got involved with a flight attendant 20 years his junior. It led to intense arguments between her parents and finally pushed Davendra Ahuja out of the family’s luxurious 5,000-square-foot Maker Tower residence at Cuffe Parade to a 20th-floor apartment at NCPA Building, Nariman Point. Afterwards, he did not visit when Vikram Ahuja’s wife gave birth to twins after nine years of their marriage, and even insisted that he would come for his eldest daughter Munisha’s second marriage only if Vikram and Marlene were kept off the guest list. Munisha declined his proposal.
