Surbhi Puranik, better known as Surbhi, is a prominent Indian actress with notable roles in the Tamil and Telugu film industries. Born on June 5, she made her cinematic debut in the Tamil movie “Ivan Veramathiri” in 2013. Her performance in the film earned her nominations for both the SIIMA Award for Best Female Debut – Tamil and the Vijay Award for Best Debut Actress. Surbhi transitioned to Telugu cinema with “Beeruva” in 2015 and later appeared in hit films such as “Express Raja” and “Gentleman” in 2016. She ventured into Kannada cinema with her first appearance in “Sakath” in 2021.
Early Life and Education

Born in Delhi on June 5, Surbhi completed her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from the College of Art, Delhi. To further her acting skills, she enrolled at Imago Acting School, where she received training under the guidance of Barry John and Manoj Bajpai. Before entering the film industry, Surbhi worked on several modeling projects.
Career Journey
Early Success (2013-2018)

Surbhi began her acting career with the Tamil film “Ivan Veramathiri” in 2013, playing the role of a college student opposite Vikram Prabhu. Her performance was well-received, with “Rediff.com” describing her as a perfect fit for the role and “Hindustan Times” recognizing her potential. This role led to nominations for Best Female Debut at the SIIMA and Vijay Awards.
In 2014, she appeared in the successful Tamil film “Velaiyilla Pattathari” with Dhanush. The “Deccan Chronicle” noted her effective performance in her cameo role. Later that year, she also made a brief appearance in the film “Jeeva.”
Surbhi made her Telugu film debut with “Beeruva” in 2015, starring alongside Sundeep Kishan. While “The Times of India” appreciated her acting, they suggested she could have improved on some scenes.
