PLOT :
Thangalaan, a village chief in 19th-century India, shares a bedtime story with his children about Aarathi, a mythical protector of the land’s gold resources. British officer Lord Clement arrives, seeking gold, and Thangalaan leads an expedition to find it. Despite challenges and Aarathi’s warnings, they persist. However, upon discovering gold, the British exploited them, leading to a confrontation.
Through Aarathi’s sorcery, Thangalaan recalls his past lives as a tribal king and laborer, forced to extract gold for oppressors. Aarathi, in her final moments, permits Thangalaan to fetch gold for his community’s benefit. Enraged by Clement’s attack on Aarathi, Thangalaan kills him and claims the land’s resources for his people.
