Vicky Kaushal seems to be on the mission to woo the audiences once more as he will appear in a historical period drama titled Chhaava where he will play the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and star alongside Rashmika Mandanna. Fans who have been waiting for this film’s release have an update; it has now been announced that the movie will be released theatrically in the middle of the month of February in the year 2025, notably during Shivaji Jayanti on the 19th of February.

As reported in Midday, it is understood that the filmmakers have tactically positioned the release date in such a way that it corresponds with the cultural holiday, Shivaji Jayanti. The report also says that February 14 or February 21 seems to be the other possibilities of release dates. It was first scheduled for December 6, 2024, which was pushed to a later date as that Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 film is coming out on December 5, 2024, and that it would be too close for comfort for the Chaava film.

Earlier this year, the film’s teaser, lasting 1 minute and 12 seconds, offered a glimpse of Vicky Kaushal in a powerful new avatar, featuring intense war sequences that left fans excited.

In an exclusive interview last year, Vicky spoke about the immense responsibility and honor of portraying one of India’s most revered historical figures. He exuded excitement about the proposed undertaking, stating that it promises to be both difficult and easy. “This is my first foray into period drama. We are taking it very seriously—it’s packed with action, drama, and high emotions. It’s truly a spectacular story,” he said.

Yesubai Bhonsale, the wife of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj will be played by Rashmika Mandanna, whereas Akshay Khanna, Ashutosh Rana and Divya Dutta have important parts to play in the movie. The film is directed by Laxman Utekar who had worked with Vicky in his previous movie Zara Hatke Zara Bachke. This movie has music by AR Rahman and is under the production of Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films. Out of his multiple projects, Chhaava is the one where Vicky Kaushal stars opposite Rashmika Mandanna for the first time.
