Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, continues to create waves at the box office after an extraordinary opening of ₹65 crore in its Hindi version. Early trends predicted the film to collect between ₹46 crore to ₹51 crore today, making a grand total of ₹113 crore in its two-day collection. There’s certainly a drop in numbers vis-a-vis day one but with the weekend coming ahead, it will be another opportunity for the film to cash on its opening and may well cross the ₹225 crore mark in four days.
The film is doing remarkably well in the mass circuits, with a lot of the drop being due to multiplexes, primarily because Friday is an ordinary working day. Then, as for the advance bookings of the weekend, they are full, so, in this sense, trends are quite promising. By the end of a four-day extended weekend, Pushpa 2 would most probably challenge Jawan’s performance, which had earned almost ₹250 crore in a similar span. Initial predictions suggested that the figure would be around 25-30% lower on day two; however, very strong evening and night shows could possibly reduce that gap. National multiplex chains such as PVR Inox and Cinepolis reported ₹15.05 crore in collections by 3 PM on Friday, compared to ₹21 crore by the same time on Thursday, reflecting a 28% dip.
Despite the slight drop, the film’s hold at the box office is impressive. If Pushpa 2 manages to surpass the ₹50 crore mark on Friday through evening and night shows, it could set a historic record as the first film to achieve ₹50 crore or more for four consecutive days. With no major releases until Christmas, Pushpa 2 appears to have a clear path toward entering the ₹500 crore club.
The initial audience response has been overwhelmingly positive, particularly in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, suggesting a strong run in the mass markets. The film’s performance on Monday will be a key indicator of its long-term box office potential. The impressive figures are even more remarkable considering the minimal contribution from the Southern market, where the original Telugu version continues to run in packed theaters, leaving little room for the Hindi-dubbed version.
