Diljit keeps on carrying towards his destiny of carving out an icon-inspiring legacy in India with every performance. Most hardships were put forward by the singer-actor, who entertains his fans through back-to-back shows, and every performance creates a new controversy. This time, however, the issue is not concert-related but revolves around a recent social networking post.
After a recent performance in Chandigarh, Diljit was seen sharing a heart-felt message to showcase his gratefulness. In the same post, he spelled Punjab as PANJAB. Immediately, netizens criticizing him accused him of ‘misspelling’ the state’s name. Breaking his silence about the case, Diljit addressed them directly. He said, “If, in any tweet, the Indian flag is left out alongside Punjab, it’s seen as a conspiracy. Even in my Bengaluru tweet, there was one mention left out. And if Punjab is written as PANJAB, that too becomes a conspiracy. Whether you write Punjab as PUNJAB or PANJAB, it will always remain Punjab.”

He went on to explain, “Panj Aab means ‘Five Rivers’… It’s amusing that people use a foreign language like English to create conspiracy theories. Going forward, I’ll write Panjab in Gurmukhi. I know you won’t stop, so keep at it. How many times do we need to prove our love for India? If this is part of some task to create controversies around me, then do something new.”
In response to Diljit’s post, Guru Randhawa shared cryptic tweets on X (formerly Twitter), sparking speculation that his words were linked to the “Punjab vs Panjab” debate. Guru’s first tweet simply read “Punjab” without further context, while his second post urged unity: “Let’s unite and support our country. Meri mitti, mera desh is the world’s best desh. Period.”
