The new police station was set up in January 1970 and is currently under the charge of Senior Police Inspector Satyawan Bajirao Mane, a veteran officer of the 1993 batch. The station has a total staff strength of 136, including 15 officers, and is responsible for law and order in a crowded area inhabited by 4 lakh citizens, from Reshimbag to Bahadura village and from Ayodhyanagar Chowk to Malgi Chowk.
The station has divided its working jurisdiction into four beats, with each of them being supervised by a dedicated Beat Marshal. The beats include Reahimbagh, Budhwari Bazar, Ashirwad Nagar, and Tajbagh, and sensitive areas like Bhande Plot and Tajbag are under special observation. API Sagar Awad leads the D.B. Squad which functions under Sakkardhara Police jurisdiction.
In a gesture of goodwill and in the interest of the community, PI Mane has issued his personal cell phone number (7722044312) to citizens in order that they can contact him directly during emergencies or in case they have information pertaining to any crime. In addition, citizens can dial the landline number of the police station (0712-744477) to lodge complaints, if they want.
Community Outreach Initiatives:
The Sakkardhara Police Station initiated various endeavours to strengthen the relationship between citizens and law enforcement. These include:
- Regular meetings: The police conduct regular Shantata meetings, Mohalla meetings, Mahila Dakshata meetings, and Senior Citizen meetings to hear citizen voices and complaints.
- Foot patrolling: In vulnerable areas, foot patrolling has been started to ensure the visibility of police presence during the night.
- Special Monitoring: A dedicated squad has been working for the monitoring of senior citizens residing alone to ensure their safety and security. To prevent crime and control it
To control the rising rate of crime, the Sakkardhara Police have initiated a series of special moves against crime, such as:
- Crackdown on hardcore criminals: The police now intensively pursue arrests of notorious criminals and effect a very significant reduction in crime rate.
- Regular checks on repeated offenders: Police always have an eye on repeat offenders and take fierce action against them.
