1.Push Kick
The inside-of-the-foot pass, or push kick, is mainly employed for short, precise passes. Players use the inside of their foot to hit the ball, guaranteeing accuracy within short distances. This method is essential for possessing the ball and allowing quick, controlled play.
- Instep Kick
Used for strong shots and long passes, the instep kick is a kick where the ball is hit with the top surface of the foot close to the laces. This kick has both power and accuracy and is best for shooting towards goal or passing long distances. - Outside Kick
The outside kick uses the outside of the foot to hit the ball, typically used to add a curve or swerve. It is useful for bending the ball past defenders or crossing into the penalty area. - Backheel Kick
A trick move, the backheel kick is done by passing or shooting the ball backwards using the heel without turning the body. The move can surprise opponents and works well in close quarters or when facing away from the target. - Toe Kick
The toe kick, or toe punt, is when the ball is struck with the tip of the foot. Although it can provide a lot of power, it doesn’t provide as much accuracy and control as other methods. It’s usually employed when one needs to shoot quickly, though because it’s so unpredictable, it’s not preferred in the professional level. - Free Kick
A free kick is given following some fouls and may be direct or indirect. The method of taking a free kick depends on the outcome desired—either a shot at goal or a tactical pass. The art of taking free kicks requires accuracy, strength, and the capacity to curve the ball around or over defensive walls. - Volley Kick
A volley kick is done by kicking the ball when it’s airborne before hitting the ground. This involves great timing and focus, usually utilized to capitalize on scoring chances from crosses or rebounds. Volleys are powerful and difficult for goalkeepers to predict.
