Dr. Tanu Jain pursued her early education at Cambridge School, Srinivaspuri, Delhi. She later completed her MBBS from Subharti Medical College in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.

Despite a background in medicine, she decided to prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. She attempted the preliminary exam in 2012 but was unsuccessful. Well, through her hard work and dedication, she managed to score a top 5 rank in 2014 for the third attempt.

She joined the Armed Forces Headquarters Service in 2015 after being selected.
