“Ramprasad” is Bengali TV series that started its airing on Star Jalsha on April 17, 2023. The series talks about the Shakta poet of the 18th century, Kali devotee Ramprasad Sen, and his quest for the divine and his family duty.

Plot Overview
Against the warm religious and cultural heritage of Bengal, “Ramprasad” is a biographical outline of Ramprasad Sen’s life, a devoted worshipper of Goddess Kali. Indifferent to the socio-political upheavals common to his era, Ramprasad employs his soul-stirring songs and poems to disseminate hope and sympathy among masses. His dual roles as saint-poet and home man and his devotedness to both his sacred and domestic spheres are the prime concerns of the book.
The novel starts with Ramprasad’s marriage to Sarbani. As he sings a hymn to glorify Goddess Kali on the day of his marriage, his relatives mock him for having paid homage to her then. While in one of his introspective phases, Ramprasad calls upon the Goddess to rescue him, she tells him that she is all around and urges him to proceed with his musical sacrifices without fear. This experience makes him stronger in his religion, and Sarbani is a strength to him in his spiritual journey.

Broadcast Information
The show first started airing every day at 6:00 PM on Star Jalsha. The time slot of the show was changed to 5:30 PM in September 2023 for new shows. Low TRP ratings forced this show to end on April 22, 2024, when the show had a very good story. It was eventually replaced by the devotional show “Bhaktir Sagar,” which narrates the life story of Ramakrishna Paramhansa.

The title song of the show is sung by well-known Bollywood playback singer Shaan, giving an ethereal touch to the holy presence of the show.
