Her Tamil debut was in V.I.P. in 1997, immediately followed by her Telugu debut, Abbai Gari Pelli, in the same year.

Critically acclaimed movies like Vaali (1999), Thulladha Manamum Thullum (1999), and Kannathil Muthamittal (2002) established her as a renowned leading actress in Tamil cinema.
