Wamiq Gabbi was born on September 29, 1993, in Chandigarh, India. By 2025 she will be 31 years old. Into a Punjabi family at her birth, Wamiq was brought up in a supportive and very cultural environment. From a very young age, she was interested in acting and dance which also included performing in various cultural programs that she was part of as a schoolgirl.
Parents and Family Background
Wamiq Gabbi was brought up by her father Govardhan Gabbi who is a noted Punjabi scriptwriter and author also we may note, that her mother, Raj Kumari Gabbi is a stay-at-home mom. Her fatherโs background in the arts had a large role in the development of her artistic self. In a home that lived and breathed art, culture, and creativity passed from one generation to the next Wamiqa breathed in from a very young age.
Education and Early Career

Wamiqa finished her school in Chandigarh and later went on to study English Literature. Her entry into the entertainment industry was almost by chance. As a child she featured as a background dancer in a popular number from the movie Jab We Met (2007). That small role became the spark which set her passion for acting alight which in turn led her to go into it full time.
Film Career and Breakthrough
In 2013 Wamiqa Gabbi made what was to be her debut in the Punjabi film — Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22 which saw her pair up with Amrinder Gill and Honey Singh. She was very well received by the audience and critics which in turn brought her into the limelight in the Punjabi film industry.
Her entry into Bollywood came via the film Sixteen (2013) which was followed by Ishq Brandy and Maalik. Also, Wamiqa worked in Tamil and Telugu films which included Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam and Bhale Manchi Roju) and she did get praise for her ability to adapt to different languages and cultures.
