Early Life and Education

Lanning spent her childhood in Thornleigh, Sydney, where she started playing cricket at Warrawee Public School. She had moved to Melbourne with her family at the age of eleven and attended Carey Baptist Grammar School. It is worth noting that she was the first woman to play in the school First XI cricket team, as much talent as she already had at that age.
