She was born to Nigerian immigrants Christiana and Bola Olabanji in Toronto, Canada, and moved with her family to Fairfax County, Virginia, when she was 10 years old. Jummy earned a B.A. in Mass Communication from Virginia Tech (2002–2006) and a Master’s of Science in Communication & Leadership from Gonzaga University in 2011.
Career
In 2005, Jummy began her career in media as an intern at NBCUniversal, followed by work at CNN’s The Situation Room and as an anchor/reporter at WCAV-TV in Charlottesville and WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. In 2017, she joined NBC4, where she continues to co-anchor the area’s top-rated morning show, News4 Today.
