Annam – Overview
Annam, which is a Tamil TV serial that puts forward a mix of new talents and experienced actors. The show has seen success in terms of the performances, which are particularly notable in the young actors’ roles and also in how it presents personal drama. We take a detailed look at the main cast and also some of the crew who worked on the series.
Principal Cast
Abi Nakshatra
In the Tamil drama space, which is our focus in Annam, we see the rise of Abi Nakshatra (also known as Abhinaya Nakshatra), a young actress who has come to the fore for her very expressive acting style. Manohar (Tamil)
Manohar, an actor who had a formal training in acting and dance, grew up in Salem. He joined acting academies and also worked as a dance master before coming into the public’s notice. It is sad but true that Manohar died in November 2021, which makes his work for Annam, in fact, a posthumous contribution. At the time of his death, he was in his mid-50s.
Ashwin Karthik
Ashwin Karthik is the primary male lead. Born in 1988, he has worked in what are now very popular Tamil serials and films. What sets him apart is his ability to bring out complex emotional layers, which in turn enriches his role in Annam.
Mahanadhi Shankar
In what is typically a very serious or bad guy role, Mahanadhi Shankar (who used to be called Shankar) has built a stage for himself in which he plays the villain very well. Also known for the energy he puts into his roles, which in turn brings out conflict or tension in the plot.
Saivam Ravi
Saaiyam Ravi has a wide range of film and TV credits. In terms of what he is known for, his early work in the film Saaiyam, which still resonates with audiences, he builds on that success in his foray into serial acting. While they are character roles which he takes on, they play out in a support, conflict or moral dimension which the plot requires.
Bharath Kumar
Another male actor in the also small pool of public info, which we have, is Bharath Kumar, but what we do know is his work in Annam, which places him among the key supporting players. Also, he brings to the team what we like to call a well-rounded group of actors.

Impact and Legacy
Annam’s casting shows a deliberate balance: Young artists like Abi Nakshatra bring in great energy and relatability for younger audiences; on the other hand, we have the experience of Rajya Lakshmi and Manohar, which brings in credibility. Although we have lost Manohar to the serial his contributions are preserved on screen and his memory becomes a part of the story’s legacy.
