Sumanth was born Yarlagadda Sumanth Kumar on February 9, 1975, in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, now Telangana. He is a world-famous Telugu actor and producer. He belonged to the renowned Akkineni family, and with his varied roles in films and distinct choice of scripts, he found his own corner in the film industry.. Aside from acting, he is an active partner in Annapurna Studios, his family’s production banner, and in SS Creations as well.

Early Life and Education

Sumanth was born to Surendra Yarlagadda and Satyavathi Akkineni. His sister is Supriya Yarlagadda, who is also involved in film production. He is the grandson of the legendary Akkineni Nageswara Rao and nephew of superstar Akkineni Nagarjuna. His cousins include Naga Chaitanya, Akhil Akkineni, and Sushanth, all of whom are active in Telugu cinema.

Film Career

He completed his schooling at Hyderabad Public School before moving to the United States for higher education. Sumanth graduated in Film Studies from Columbia College Chicago after briefly attending the University of Michigan. His knowledge of cinematography was a strong basis for future movie-making.

Sumanth began his acting career in 1999 with Prema Katha, directed by Ram Gopal Varma, which earned him critical acclaim and the Nandi Award for Best Debut Actor. His next release, Yuvakudu (2000), also performed well at the box office, cementing his position as a talented newcomer.

In the following years, Sumanth starred in successful films like Satyam (2003), Gowri (2004), Godavari (2006), Madhumasam (2007), Pourudu (2008), and Golconda High School (2011). Sumanth married actress Keerthi Reddy in 2004, but the couple separated in 2006. Despite their divorce, they have maintained a cordial relationship. He has remained single since then and does not have children.
