Salman‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ Khan, formerly known as Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan, was born on December 27, 1965, and is 59 years old as of 2025. He was raised in a well-known film family of Indore, Madhya Pradesh – his father, Salim Khan, the legendary screenwriter of the Salim-Javed duo, and his stepmother, Helen, the well-known dancer. His mother, Salma Khan (formerly Sushila Charak), is a mixed Maharashtrian and Dogra Rajput, while his father’s side are Pashtun migrants from Afghanistan; Salman has also two brothers, Arbaaz and Sohail Khan, who are similarly actors and producers, and two sisters.

Khan’s debut film, Biwi Ho To Ai, was released in 1988. It was a film in which he played a supporting role, and it hardly got any notice. However, Maine Pyar Kiya (1989) opposite Bhagyashree made him one of the most popular romantic heroes overnight, and he was given the Filmfare Best Male Debut award. Khan had quite a successful 90s with hits such as Saajan (1991) and Baaghi (1990), but he also suffered losses. Later, he regained his popularity through the action-packed Wanted (2009), a film that was followed by the superhits like Dabangg (2010), Bodyguard (2011), Ek Tha Tiger (2012), Kick (2014), Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), and Sultan (2016). Besides acting, he runs a production house named SKF, and with the help of the Bigg Boss, he is gaining more and more popularity among the common people.

By 2025, Khan’s net worth is believed to be roughly around ₹2,900 crore ($364 million). His main areas of income include film fees, brand endorsements, production, and real estate. His monthly revenue is nearly ₹16 crore; similarly, the cost for the first few episodes of TV shows is ₹1,500 per episode. The money he earns is an indication of the authority he holds in the blockbuster franchises and brand endorsements.
