Cricket has long been overtaken by the Indian Premier League (IPL), which has now become a worldwide sports market that thrives on extensive sponsorships, broadcast rights, franchise names, and active participation of fans. In 2025, the IPL’s total business valuation reached a whopping USD 18.5 billion, and the league’s brand alone was USD 3.9 billion, indicating a steady year-on-year rise.
The most prominent event was the 2025 victory of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), which not only helped the team acquire its first IPL trophy but also drastically increased the brand value of RCB, elevating it to the first place in financial rankings. The richest IPL franchises and the reasons supporting their rising valuations as of 2026 are listed below.
1. Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)

The brand value of RCB has reached USD 269 million, making it the most valuable IPL franchise and, thus, RCB is at the top currently. Loyalty of fans over the years, presence of star players, and aggressive marketing of the franchise finally paid off when Rajat Patidar-led RCB won its first IPL title in 2025. Though some reports indicate that the current owners are mulling over a possible sale, RCB’s current operations and plans are not affected by that, and besides, their popularity keeps growing.
2. Mumbai Indians (MI)

Mumbai Indians get a valuation of USD 242 million, and they are still counted among the most successful IPL teams in history. MI has been the owner of five championship titles, and the Reliance Group has been its owner, thanks to which MI has elite management, global branding, and a huge talent pool. The franchise remains financially strong even after the changes in its leadership.
3. Chennai Super Kings (CSK)

The brand value of Chennai Super Kings stands at a whopping USD 235 million, thus demonstrating the power the brand wields in the cricket world. The franchise is known for its consistency and for having a very loyal following in the form of fans. The CSK leadership, besides being loyal to its players and keeping the connection with them through MS Dhoni and strong sponsorships, has made the brand even stronger.
4. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)

KKR, which has a value of USD 222 million, is a team that not only wins but also entertains. The team with three IPL trophies and a celebrity owner is helped by the use of smart marketing, digital communication, and consistent good performances.
5. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Sunrisers Hyderabad has grown to the tune of USD 154 million, which is double the valuation of SRH just a few years ago. Sun TV Network, the owner of SRH, has increased its commercial attractiveness through runner-up finishes and smart squad rebuilding.
6. Delhi Capitals (DC)

Delhi Capitals are worth USD 152 million. The franchise has come up both in terms of performance and image since they changed its name from Delhi Daredevils. The financial support of GMR and JSW Groups has been and will continue to be an important factor in their long-term growth.
7. Rajasthan Royals (RR)

Rajasthan Royals have a valuation of USD 146 million and are still competing by using their scouting and youth development. Their image as the underdog, plus their international fan base, contribute to the strength of their brand.
8. Gujarat Titans (GT)

Even though the Gujarat Titans are a new franchise, they have a brand value of USD 142 million. The elevation of their market position was very fast, as they won the IPL in their first season and continued to perform strongly.
9. Punjab Kings (PBKS)

Punjab Kings are valued at USD 141 million. Heavy investments in star players and leadership signal ambition, even though a title remains elusive. Their loyal regional fan base keeps the brand relevant.
10. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG)

Lucknow Super Giants, worth USD 122 million, have quickly established themselves since joining the IPL in 2022. Backed by strong ownership and marquee players, LSG shows promising long-term growth.
