Roberta Gonzales has been a Bay Area staple for decades. If you’ve watched local weather, you probably know her—she’s that friendly, energetic meteorologist who always seems genuinely excited to be on camera. Roberta’s roots go back to Barstow, California, where she grew up with her parents, Jose Edwardo and Esther, and her two younger brothers, Edward and Michael. Family and faith really shaped her early years.

After high school, she headed down to San Diego State and got hooked on media and communications. That decision pretty much set the direction for everything that followed. She’s been in TV since the 1980s, and you can tell—she’s been a SAG-AFTRA member since 1986, and by 2026, she’ll be about 65.

Roberta started in local radio and TV, then moved into broadcast meteorology, picking up jobs at KGTV in San Diego and WMAQ-TV in Chicago. But she really became a Bay Area fixture after joining KPIX-CBS in San Francisco, where she spent over two decades as their main weather anchor. In 2017, she decided to leave KPIX and launch her own company, Roberta Gonzales Productions, but she never left TV completely—she kept showing up on air as a freelancer.

By 2021, she landed at KTVU FOX 2 as a part-time meteorologist, bringing that same energy and experience to a new audience. She covers everything from wild storms to droughts and all the local climate challenges in between. People trust her—she feels like part of the community, and over time, she’s become one of the most recognisable people in Bay Area broadcasting.

When Roberta’s not in the studio, she’s still moving. She’s run more than 30 marathons and finished at least five full Ironman races around the world. She’s racked up plenty of awards—multiple Emmys, Associated Press honours, and a spot in the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Silver Circle Hall of Fame. Giving back matters to her, too—she volunteers with groups like the American Cancer Society andthe National Humane Society.

Roberta married Randy Hahn, the longtime San Jose Sharks hockey broadcaster, back in 1986, and they had two sons, Randall and Michael. By the mid-2020s, they’d gone their separate ways, and Hahn remarried in 2021. Roberta keeps her private life quiet, but she’s still active in the community and in her career.

As of 2026, she earns around $156,000 a year at KTVU, plus income from her production company. Her net worth is estimated at $3.4 million—a testament to her long, successful run in TV and media.
