Kannappa is an epic film based on the famous mythological story of Kannada hero Kannappa, a prominent devotee of Lord Shiva. Leading star Mohan Babu took this exciting project under 24 Frames Factory in collaboration with AVA Entertainment. The direction is led by Mukesh Kumar Singh, whose expertise is well-known in presenting mythological stories on TV. The total project cost is estimated to be ₹100 crore. Film Plot and Production
Kannappa is the tale of the inspiring growth of a unique hunter who was devout enough to earn his place among Lord Shiva’s dearest followers. Like all spiritual stories, this film contains a deep sense of sacrifice, devotion to God, and coming back to his senses.
The launch of the movie project has taken place at the Srikalahasteeswara Temple in Srikalahasti, Andhra Pradesh, where the story of Kannappa had its origin. Paruchuri Gopala Krishna, G. Nageswara Reddy, Eshwar Reddy, and Thota Prasad are the authors of the film script, while the music is composed by Stephen Devassy. The songs feature lyrics by Suddala Ashok Teja, Ramajogayya Sastry, and Bhaskarabhatla, adding devotional depth to the soundtrack.
Originally, actress Nupur Sanon was selected for the female lead but later exited the project due to scheduling commitments. The role was subsequently taken over by Preity Mukhundhan, who plays Nemali. Likewise, Kajal Aggarwal joined the cast as Goddess Parvati after initial discussions with another actress did not progress.
