When we think of Zepto, what usually comes to mind are Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra, the young entrepreneurs whom we see as the face of redefining quick commerce in India. But behind the company’s great success is another key player who has stayed out of the media: Kavit Palicha, Aadit’s father and a very experienced finance professional.
For those in the know of India’s startup scene, Kavit’s story stands out as it shows how great mentorship plays to young ambition. Zepto’s story is greater than just quick grocery delivery; it is also into capital, technology, logistics and consumer behaviour.
Who Is Kavit Palicha?
Kavit Palicha is out of the finance and investment field and has had a professional journey that took him through India and international financial markets. He got his degree in Math and Computer Science from the University of Mumbai before he began his professional career.
In his career, he went to Dubai, which saw him in senior roles and gain experience in operations, private banking and wealth management. Also, he spent over a decade at Bank J. Safra Sarasin, which saw him rise to the post of executive director.
His career has seen him in portfolio management, capital markets, wealth planning and investment strategy roles. In 2020, he joined the Jafar Family Office as an Investment Director, which also strengthened his experience in investment management and evaluation of business opportunities.
Kavit Palicha’s Connection With Zepto

Kavit Palicha did not play a co-founding role in Zepto. In 2021, the company was founded by Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya Vohra. What he did bring to the table was mentoring, financial acumen and strategic counsel at the very early stages of the company’s growth.
This is an important note. Founders were in charge of the business’ early development, but Kavit’s background in finance brought a different point of view as the young company grappled with issues of capital, budgets, expansion and long-term sustainability.
In my experience, this is part of the Zepto story that I can identify with. Behind many a successful young entrepreneur, there is a mentor who puts ideas to the test, asks the tough financial what-if questions, and helps to turn that which is a feeling into a doable business plan.
The Thinking Behind Zepto’s Rapid Growth
Making a huge improvement in grocery shopping convenience is what they did. They used to put dark stores in strategic locations, which in turn allowed us to keep products very close to the customers, and in that they also were able to speed up order fulfilment.
Technology is a key element in this approach. We see that in inventory management, demand forecasting, order processing and delivery coordination, which all require data-driven systems as we scale to large numbers of orders in the network.
Kavits’ financial and strategic background supported this technology focus, which in turn we saw in terms of capital efficiency and disciplined expansion.
A focus on young customers.
Zepto has a young workforce, which is a reflection of the company’s startup culture and focus on experimentation. Also, we see that customer convenience is at the core of what we do.
Speed is but a component. For a successful commerce player, logistics, tech, inventory and customer experience must come together for fast delivery to be a business reality.
In 2026, Kavit Palicha’s Story matters.
By 2026, Zepto is a brand that has achieved great recognition in the Indian quick commerce space, which is a very dynamic market.
Kavit Palicha has put forth a different approach to what makes for entrepreneurial success. Not all that is involved in the growth of a major startup is played out on the public stage. We have, in some cases, elements that play out behind the scenes: strategic counsel, financial background and mentoring that may not always see the light of day but are very much a part of the success story.
For my part, that is the most interesting element of Kavit Palicha’s story. Zepto may be known for speed, but what it also does well is blend youthfulness of vision with the depth of experience. In an environment that tends to focus on the founder — which is often the case — Kavit’s role puts into perspective what is achieved by the teams that work behind the scenes.
