Arbaaz Khan and Sohail Khan, sons of the esteemed screenwriter Salim Khan, have openly discussed the challenges that actors encounter, even when they hail from a film-oriented background. Arbaaz and Sohail, in a recent interview, shed light on the issue of nepotism, emphasizing that attributing an actor’s achievements solely to their family connections in Bollywood is unjust.

Arbaaz mentioned, “Certainly, having a well-established father can open certain doors, much like in any other profession.” During their conversation on Timeout With Ankit, the Khan brothers, while acknowledging that they haven’t reached the same pinnacle of success as their elder brother Salman Khan, underscored the hurdles faced by individuals with ties to the film industry. “If your father is in a different profession, say medicine or law, you naturally have access to contacts in those domains. Similarly, being part of a film family, we had easier access to industry figures. However, this accessibility doesn’t guarantee opportunities,” elaborated Arbaaz.
He emphasized that while being born into a Bollywood family might provide initial opportunities, it doesn’t ensure a sustained career. “While it might ease the initial steps, it’s not enough to sustain a long-term career,” he expressed regretfully. “Even though we haven’t reached Salman Khan’s heights of success, we persistently pursue our careers.”There’s no preferential treatment in this industry,” he added.

Arbaaz delved into the reality of Bollywood, which heavily relies on the commercial viability of films. He stressed that regardless of one’s connections, audience acceptance remains paramount. “Attributing an actor’s success solely to nepotism is unfair. Even established stars face setbacks, and it’s unreasonable to expect them to favor someone solely based on family ties,” remarked the actor-producer.
He further highlighted instances of celebrities who failed to attain stardom despite having illustrious parents. “While some actors might have thrived due to their lineage, many others have not. There are numerous examples,” he concluded.
Regarding the career trajectories of the next generation of Khans, Arbaaz mentioned that both Arhaan and Nirvaan Khan are currently honing their skills. Arhaan is the son of Arbaaz and his former wife Malaika Arora, while Nirvaan is Sohail’s son with his estranged wife Seema Sajdeh.
Sohail added that Nirvaan recently completed his studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He intends to intern with a director in Mumbai for a year before embarking on his professional journey.”Although our family background could offer him opportunities, it’s crucial that he achieves success through his own efforts,” Sohail concluded.
