Sonakshi Sinha recently shared an intriguing behind-the-scenes anecdote about the filming of “Tilasmi Bahein” from the upcoming series Heeramandi. This particular song, known for its catchy tune, was shot in a single take, a decision made spontaneously by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Set to debut on Netflix on May 1, Heeramandi boasts a stellar cast including Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Manisha Koirala, and Sharmin Segal, with a narrative enriched by several captivating musical numbers.
In a candid interview with Hindustan Times, Sonakshi, who portrays the character Fareedan in the series, revealed the unexpected turn of events during the filming process. Despite meticulous rehearsals for a pre-planned choreography, Bhansali opted for a spontaneous approach on set, deciding to shoot the entire song in one continuous take.
Sonakshi reminisced, “We commenced shooting as per the planned choreography on the first day. Out of the blue, Bhansali proclaimed, ‘Let’s shoot the entire song in one continuous take and redesign it on the spot!’ This spontaneous alteration required Sonakshi to swiftly familiarize herself with the lyrics of “Tilasmi Bahein” in the moment. Fortunately, the infectious rhythm of the song eased her transition into the new arrangement.
When questioned about her mindset regarding the impromptu decision to shoot the song in one take, Sonakshi confessed, “I don’t know what came over me because I had never experienced a one-shot song in my entire career. However, I thrive on performing, and once the camera starts rolling, I completely immerse myself in the character. So, I simply reminded myself, ‘Forget who you are! In this moment, give it your all. You are Fareedan; forget Sonakshi!’ And that’s precisely what I did.” This candid revelation offers a glimpse into the dedication and versatility of Sonakshi Sinha as an actress, as she embraced the challenge with fervor and professionalism.
