For the first time, Bollywood icon Shah Rukh Khan has collaborated with his sons, Aryan Khan and AbRam Khan, on an exciting new project, Mufasa: The Lion King. The recently released trailer has stirred up a wave of excitement among fans, marking AbRam’s debut in the film industry. Shah Rukh Khan shared his joy, stating, “This collaboration is particularly special to me because it involves my sons, Aryan and AbRam. Being part of this journey with them is truly meaningful.”

Following the success of the 2019 live-action The Lion King, Shah Rukh Khan returns to voice Mufasa, exploring the origins of the jungle’s legendary king. He is joined by Aryan Khan, who voices Simba, and AbRam Khan, who portrays the young Mufasa. The Hindi trailer for this year’s much-anticipated release, Mufasa: The Lion King, was unveiled on August 12, showcasing the powerful trio.
The trailer, shared on Instagram, highlights a story of friendship and loyalty as Rafiki narrates Mufasa’s remarkable rise to power in the Pride Lands. The film introduces audiences to a young Mufasa, an orphaned cub, and his adventures with Taka, a lion from a royal lineage, along with their diverse group of companions.
Shah Rukh Khan reflected on his connection to the character of Mufasa, emphasizing that the jungle king embodies wisdom and guidance, much like a father does for his child. He expressed a personal resonance with Mufasa’s journey, seeing parallels with his own experiences as a father. The collaboration with Disney, he said, is especially ‘special’ due to the involvement of Aryan and AbRam, making the experience even more significant for him.

Bikram Duggal, Head of Studios at Disney Star, commented on the project, highlighting that Mufasa represents more than just a fictional figure; he embodies a spirit that continues to inspire generations. Duggal shared that when Mufasa: The Lion King was conceptualized, the team could think of no better fit for Mufasa and Simba than Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan. With the addition of AbRam, the film has become even more meaningful. Duggal emphasized Disney’s commitment to delivering a story that Indian families can cherish together.
Directed by Barry Jenkins, Mufasa: The Lion King utilizes a blend of live-action and photorealistic computer-generated imagery to bring both new and beloved characters to life. The movie features original songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda and voice performances by Aaron Pierre as Mufasa, Donald Glover as Simba, and Braelyn Rankins as Young Mufasa. Mufasa: The Lion King is scheduled for release in Indian theaters on December 20, 2024, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
